Miniature landscape painting 2, oil on wood, 2" x 3 1/4" by Ayleah
Hey there! This is the second in a series of fun miniature oil paintings on wood. This original oil painting is 2" x 3 1/4" (x 3/4" deep). My current goal is to paint and post a set of 50 miniature paintings. The subjects in these paintings are different from my usual paintings. As I paint these I "let myself go" and paint whatever comes to mind - even silly, small paper airplanes.
I've also launched a new website called "freeartuniversity.com". As some of you know, I taught art for many years. The new website will house my art lessons - free. There is no catch, no charge, no obligation. I intend to add at least one lesson a week - the reason I'm only entering one a week is that it is time consuming to change the lesson from "classroom style" over to "self serve" lessons. Please be patient, by Halloween I hope to have 34 lessons online. Please give me a week and tell your k-12 teacher friends and your art intro friends! Thanks, Ayleah (eye-lee-uh)

Update
I haven't been blogging lately. So here is an update of all the painting's I have had online since the beginning of January 2010. I've been selling these on ebay for a starting bid of $1. And yes, I have sold several for $1. These are paintings that I have spent countless hours thinking about and painting (no thin paint on canvas cardboard for me). I put EVERYTHING I have into these paintings and they have all gone to good homes. The practice is good for me and eventually I will make a reputable name for myself. Either way, I'm a painter, I've always been a painter and I will always be a painter. I'm not sure why I do it but it makes my heart beat faster and I feel alive when I'm painting.

.
The reason I haven't been blogging is that we recently moved back home TO southern California FROM another very cold state. About five years ago we had a great job offer in another state (a state where there is a predominant religion and we are not part of that predominant religion - no disrespect intended as we have many wonderful friends who are that religion). What a great learning experience, I will never leave Southern California again - long story short, we slipped on ice a lot, my husband became violently ill, something to do with the altitude and pressure. We learned how to un-thaw our car locks with an extension cord and a hairdryer, our son learned how to snowboard and he made a ton of great friends! We learned about Sudbury schools, and the mountains are real pretty there. We are now back home, it's about 70 degrees outside, and we are still un-thawing from the yearly 9 months of winter in that other (beautiful) state. So what if we have to put powdered milk in our coffee (laundry soap - shmondry soap :)! It's 70 degrees and blue skies outside (instead of the nine months of 20 degrees with and brown smog in that other place). I'm so grateful to be here!!! I hope it shows in my work.

"I will love you now and later"
"I will love you now and Later" 12" x 12" x 1 1/2 " Gallery wrapped sides painted black. Available on ebay (search ayleah) with a starting bid of $1 -the auction ends shortly so you will have your art in time for Valentine"s day.
Original oil painting on high quality canvas.
I have been painting quite a bit. My resolution for the year is to have one paining on ebay at all times for the next 12 months. The best part is that these paintings are all starting with a $1bid! The more you paint the more you learn and improve-always learning.
I love painting these goofy, colorful paintings! It has given me a chance to use intense colors and to paint subjects on that really speak to me (and to learn new techniques - always learning). I'm not a fast painter, most of my paintings take HOURS and hours and days to complete - no thin paint on cardboard canvas here!
I hope you will stick with me for the year!
